The IMPALA consortium, based at the UK Met Office, aims to deliver a step change in global climate model capability with a focus on a convection-permitting model over the African continent (CP4-Africa). This report covers the second annual IMPALA science meeting held at the University of Leeds, 19-20 January 2017. The report documents progress as reported at the meeting and covers work over the year since the first Science Meeting (10-11 December 2015)
The second Science Meeting was attended by around 40 scientists engaged in the project and included representatives from all 4 Regional Consortia and IMPALA African partners. The meeting included discussion sessions to consider additional experiments for the CP4-Africa model and to clarify linkages and joint activities between remote influences local processes.
